David Perry Raxter

Dalzell, SC …. Master Sergeant David Perry Raxter, Age 44, husband of 6 years to Jenny Betit Raxter, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at his residence.

Born December 2, 1980, in Hendersonville, NC, he was the son of Roger Raxter and his wife Lisa and the late Bobbie Sue Johnson Raxter.  Raised in Lake Toxaway, NC, David graduated from Rosman High School in 1999.  He then went to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College where, in 2002, he received a degree in Wildlife Management.  After college, he began a lifelong career of over 20 years in the US Air Force where he was greatly respected for strong leadership skills.  During his career, David was deployed to Afghanistan, Qatar, Jordan, and Korea.  He was currently station at Shaw AFB, Sumter, SC.  David was a gentle, loving, and compassionate man who always tried to make everyone happy.  He loved to laugh and was known to be an avid outdoorsman.  David enjoyed hunting, hiking, and playing frisbee golf, however his true joy in life came from time spent with family, especially his two daughters.  He will be known as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving to cherish his memory are, his wife, Jenny Betit Raxter, of Dalzell; two daughters, Audrey Raxter, and Emma Raxter, both of Dalzell, SC; a stepdaughter, Reagen Betit of the Philippines; his father, Roger Raxter and his stepmother Lisa of Lake Toxaway, NC; a brother, Jessie A. Raxter and his wife Hope Justice of Lake Toxaway, NC; a niece, Ava Raxter and a nephew, Abraham Raxter; five uncles, Robert Raxter and his wife Evey of Brevard, NC, David Johnson and his wife Debbie of Cashiers, NC, Joey Johnson and his wife Christie of Brevard, NC, Ricky Johnson and his wife Treva of Lake Toxaway, NC, and Donnie Johnson and his wife Melissa of Brevard, NC; two aunts, Hope Wright of Asheville, NC, and Deb Bradley and her husband Jimmy of Cashiers, NC; a great aunt, Margaret Jennings of Lake Towaway, NC, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Perry and Helen Raxter and David and Marlene Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.  Inurnment will follow the service in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors. 

A memorial service, to honor David, will be announced at a later date in Rosman, NC.
