Sumter, SC… David F. Rogers, age 83, beloved husband of 57 years to Andre Page Padgett Rogers, died on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Prisma Health Tuomey.
Born in Kansas City, KS, he was the son of the late Jesse David Rogers and Katherine J. Manczuk Rogers. David graduated from Maur Hill High School and Seminary in Kansas. Electing to join the military, David served in the security forces division of the US Air Force. He retired, from Shaw AFB, as a MSGT after over 20 years of service. David then went to work as a police officer with the Sumter Police Department where he served for over 18 years before retiring. He enjoyed both fishing and photography, but his true joy in life was spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, surviving to cherish his memory are; two sons, David Michael Rogers and his wife Tanja Elizabeth of Sumter, and Lon Christopher Rogers of Richmond, VA; a daughter, Carrie Rogers Murphy and her husband Stephen Paul of Weddington, NC; two brothers, Robert Rogers of Parkville, MI, and Wayne Rogers and his wife Rhonda of Warrensburg, MI; two sisters, Bonnie Clair of Kansas City, KS, and Cathy Onasch of Lenexa, KS; a sister-in-law, Laura Rogers of Lacygne, KS; three grandchildren, Anthony Michael Rogers and his wife Alyssa, Sarah Christine Rogers, and Connor Joseph Murphy, and two great grandchildren, Audrey Mae Rogers, and Bennett Michael Rogers.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Pamela Ann Mancill; two brothers, Dennis Rogers and Randall Rogers, and one sister, Sharon Gunya.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at 12:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Mosier officiating. The interment will immediately follow the service in the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
