Sumter, S.C……. Deborah “Debbie” Gainey Smith, age 61, beloved wife of 37 years to the late Robert Hula Smith passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024.
Her true joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a very loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She dedicated over 40 years to working as a health care worker and a health information coordinator, caring for others. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Debbie is survived by her two sons, Eric Stubbs and Freddie Smith, both of Sumter: a daughter Charlotte Hamilton and her husband John, of Sumter; five grandchildren, Addison Smith, Emma Stubbs, Andrew Hamilton, Kinley Smith, and Reagan Smith; her mother, Linda Gainey of Sumter; two sisters Robbin Manges and her husband Shawn of Gilbert, SC, and Kimberly Mears of Bolivia, NC; a brother Bobby Gainey III and his wife Harley of Bolivia, NC.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father, Bobby Gainey Jr.; a sister Regina Barrington; and two brothers in law, Michael Mears Sr. and Dwayne Barrington.
The family will receive friends at 20 Teton Rd. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. and on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
A visitation will be held at Bullock Funeral Home on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 11:00 am -11:30 am.
A memorial service will be held at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 11:30 am -12:00pm.
Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
