Dennis Michael Selvig

Sumter, SC……Dennis Michael Selvig, age 79, beloved husband of 52 years to Margaret Anne Cooper Selvig, died on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at NHC of Sumter.

Dennis was born in Fargo, North Dakota, and raised in Boulder, Colorado, son of the late Orlie Abner Selvig and Alma Robertha Ulhorn Selvig. He lived a full and adventurous life as a pilot in the US Air Force for 22 years. He enjoyed a variety of hobbies including carpentry, photography, cycling, sailing, astronomy and painting. He was a member of St. Anne and St. Jude Catholic Church where he enjoyed being in the choir. Above all else his greatest love was his family.  Dennis was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife Margaret, he is survived by his foster mother, Alice Carol Keefer, his daughters, Amy Lynne Selvig Leiner of Atlanta, GA and Holly Elizabeth Selvig of Columbia, SC; his sister, Phyllis June Selvig Beeler and her husband John Beeler of CO; brother, David Robb of CA; foster siblings, Charles Keefer, Laurie Keefer, Wendy Keefer, Benjamin Keefer, Paul Keefer, and Megan Smith;  three grandchildren, Zoe Hannah Leiner and Jenna Rose Leiner of Atlanta, GA, and Stella Selvig Sofer of Columbia, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews and family in Australia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Orlie Abner Selvig and Alma Robertha Ulhorn Selvig and his foster father Robert “Bob” Keefer, brother, Van Marshall Selvig, and son-in-law, Avner Sofer.
