Dolores Olive (Powers) Adams

Sumter, SC …. Dolores Olive Powers Adams, age 90, beloved wife of the late Alvin Preston Adams, died on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at her residence.

Born in Amsterdam, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Orpha Powers and Martha Alice Wiseman Powers.  Dolores and her husband owned and operated a convenience store in Ohio.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting and crocheting.  Dolores loved dogs, but her true joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.  She will be remembered as a very loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. 

She is survived by: three sons, Arthur Hiles and his wife Cherrie of CT, Norris Eugene Hiles and his wife Theresa of Wedgefield and Jeffery Wayne Hiles and his wife Robin of Sumter; one daughter, Melissa Guiffre and her husband Sal of FL;; two sisters, Margaret Metsen, and Naomi Locks, both of OH; two special friends, Shelly McKee of Newark, OH and Amanda Roberts of Manning; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Mark Kevin Adams, a brother, Lester Powers and a sister Ruth McConnell.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home with the Rev. David Richardson officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, April 3, 2021 from 11:00-12:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
