Donna Yvonne Curry

Donna Yvonne Curry, 50, of Sumter, died peacefully, Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Born August 31, 1970 in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late James Robert Curry and the late Shirley Shumate Curry. She was a member of St. Anne/St Jude Parish.  Yvonne was known for her quick wit and always had a joke to share. She was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles and Jeopardy. She loved her family and never forgot to call them for birthdays or anniversaries.  Yvonne loved country music and adored Patsy Cline. 

Survivors include her brother, Robert Erwin Curry (Sonja); sister, Tracy Curry Atkinson- Marye (Robert) all of Sumter; nephews, Donald Lowell Atkinson and great-niece, Caroline Wettstein-Atkinson of St. Petersburg, FL, James Tanner Curry (Kayla) and great-nephews, Noah and Jackson Curry of Sumter; niece, Lyndsey Webb Williams (Britt) of Atlanta, GA; nephew, Jakob Rush Curry, of Sumter;  aunt, Fern Shumate Smyre; cousins, Danny Shumate (Crystal); Derek Shumate (Samantha), all of Knoxville, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lisa Curry Webb.

Services for Ms. Curry will be private. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Calhoun Convalescent Center in St. Matthews, The Gardens of Sumter, and Ms. Marie Singleton, for the care and compassion shown to their sister. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, 216 E. Liberty Street, Sumter, SC 29150.
