Doretha Wright Obituary

Sister Doretha Gethers Wright, wife of Frankey L. Wright, Sr., was born October 24, 1948 in Cross, SC to the late Richard R. and Carrie Johnson Gethers.  She departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Monday, July 4, 2022 in the comfort of her home.

Sister Wright was educated in Boston, Massachusetts and graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School. She furthered her education in Sumter, SC where she became trained as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  She also attended the Enon Missionary Baptist Church School of Ministry to aid in her spiritual growth. She always had an entrepreneurial spirit and was self-employed in various areas. She worked as an In Home Child Care Provider, an Independent Sales Representative and a private certified Home Health Care Aide.

At the beginning of her spiritual journey while in Boston, Massachusetts, Sister Wright was a member of the Charles Street A.M.E. Church.  After relocating to Sumter, SC, she became a member of Mt. Pisgah A.M.E. Church and later joined Enon Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful and dedicated member.  She served on the Hospitality Ministry, Church School Ministry, Nurse’s Aid Ministry, S.E.H. Mass Choir, Petals and Pearls Ministry and was willing to serve in areas for the upkeep and care of the ministry where needed. She stood firm in her belief and faith in God.  She enjoyed giving light to the Word of God and the goodness of Jesus Christ.  She would often bring others with her to church to share in the goodness and service of the Lord.  She loved God and truly loved her Pastor and her church ministry.

Sister Wright was a woman with a very nurturing spirit and she loved her husband and family. She was married to Frankey L. Wright, Sr. September 13, 1968 and was married for 53 years. To their union, they had three daughters; Constance “Connie Jean” Wright, Nakia Latasha Wright and Krystle Marleah Wright and one son, Frankey L. Wright, Jr.  Two grandsons, Darius and Dayton Wright, were reared in her home.  She often called her children in the middle of the night, especially on Friday, to say to them, “You need to be in church on Sunday.” She enjoyed reading her bible and was an advocate for prayer. She was prayer warrior for everyone.  Sister Wright was a people person and did not miss any of her phone calls. She was always a listening ear and loved to laugh and sing. She was a great cook, loved to shop and was a stylish, sassy dresser.  Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23.
