Sumter, S.C …. Douglas Edward Lamer, age 71, beloved husband of Donna Cook Lamer, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Agape Hospice House of Lexington.
Born in Kewanee, Illinois, Douglas was the cherished son of Elizabeth "Betty" Lamer and the late Richard Anthony Lamer. Douglas had a diverse and fulfilling career. He worked for over 13 years at Simpson Hardware in the sporting goods department. He also served as a manufacturing representative for various sporting goods companies and was a successful copier salesman.
Douglas was an avid fan of the Clemson Tigers, often cheering them on with great enthusiasm. Above all, he loved his family deeply, cherishing the moments spent with his children, grandchildren, and beloved dogs. A devoted family man and a passionate sports fan, Douglas will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Douglas is survived by his loving wife, Donna, his son, Matthew Lamer of Hendersonville, NC, and his daughter, Toni McIntosh, and her husband, Justin, of Sumter, SC. He is also survived by his three sisters, Edie Gross, Judy Brabham, and Mary Bonnie. Douglas was the proud grandfather to four grandchildren: Gabriel McIntosh, William McIntosh, Richard McIntosh, and Henry Lamer.
Preceding him in death were his father, Richard Anthony Lamer, and his brother, David Lamer.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.
