Eddie R. Alston

Sumter, SC…….. Eddie R. Alston, age 95, widow of William P. Alston, died on Tuesday, September 26th, 2023 at her home.

Eddie was born in Clarendon County in 1927 to J. Pittman Robinson and Effie Mims Robinson. Eddie served as Postmaster in Rembert retiring after 30 years of devoted service. Her most passionate pursuit was that of gardening. She received her Master Gardener Certificate at the age of 70. Eddie was a 74 year member of McLeod Chapel Church.

Eddie affectionately known as Mi-Mi, lived her 95 years in service to her Lord and Savior and her beloved family. Her survivors include her two children, Thomas “Tommy” M. Moore, III (Ginger) and Mary Ellen Davis (Bill) along with her four grandchildren, Thomas “Champe” M. Moore, IV (Sheila), Tori D. Whitaker, Courtney D. Whitaker (Evan), and Meredith M. Few (Todd) and her eight grandchildren. Eddie was also blessed with two stepchildren, Frances Ann Coker (Alan) and William P. Alston, Jr. (Susan), and four step-grandchildren, Brian Coker, Erin C. Watkins (Travis), Alex Alston and Ashley Alston Young (Aaron), eight step-great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was the second of ten siblings and is survived by one sister, Wanda R. Rodgers (Larry) and two brothers Timothy Robinson (Susie) and Thomas J. Robinson (Bonnie) as well as many loved nieces and nephews. She cherished any time she had with her family.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 28th, 2023 from 5-8pm at the family home.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
