Sumter, SC…Edith S. DuBose, age 78, wife of the late Ted DuBose, died peacefully on, October 26, 2023.
Edith was born in Sumter, SC on April 3, 1945; where she was raised in a Christian home by her loving parents the late Mildred Middelton and Julius Alfred Stubbs.
She graduated from Furman High School in 1964, and later attended The Fashion Institute of America in Atlanta, GA to pursue a career in interior decorating. Injuries from an automobile accident presented challenges which consequently led her closer to home. She completed business courses at Sumter Technical College and worked as office manager at Sumter Stress-Crete Inc.
Edith married her husband in 1972, and later, became a loving mother. Nothing on earth brought her more joy than caring for “her boys”.
She will be remembered by her unique kindness and generosity; traits which are deeply rooted within her Middleton lineage. With guidance from her cousin Susie, and unwavering loyalty and support from her friend/sister-in-law Pat, she provided full-time care for her mother and sister. Edith currently resides with Jesus.
Edith is survived by her brother, Adger Middelton Stubbs, and his wife Patricia; two children, Kevin Elliott DuBose, Brian Edward DuBose; one grandchild, Kaylie Denise DuBose and a cousin, Susie Fishburne.
Edith was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret M. Stubbs.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 4:00 pm in the Sumter Cemetery.
