Sumter, SC…. Emily Carol Hodge Ardis, age 78, beloved wife of the late Wayne Russell Ardis, Sr., passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025.
Carol was born in Sumter, SC, a daughter of the late Wildon Hodge and the late Ivabell Hudson. She worked in accounting at Pilgrim’s Pride for more than 20 years before retiring. Carol taught Sunday school for more than 40 years and was a lifelong, faithful member of Providence Baptist Church. She will be remembered as someone who always put God and family first. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Lynda Denise Bell of Sumter and Beverly Ardis and her wife, Angel Blum of Havelock, NC; sister, Brenda Fontenot and her husband Joe of New Orleans; her grandchildren, Taylor Tisdale and her husband William, Austin Ardis, Cheyenne Ardis, Hunter Ardis, Brycen Blum, and William Ardis; and great-grandchildren, Korie Ann Moore, DanyLyn Moore, Skylynn Ardis, Mia Ahmad and Adora Ahmad.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Carol is preceded in death by her son “Rusty” Wayne Russell Ardis, Jr; a brother, “Gerald” Wildon Gerald Hodge, and a sister, Lois Ann Hodge.
A visitation will be held at Bullock Funeral Home on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 2:00-3:00 pm.
A funeral service will be held at Providence Baptist Church on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 4:00 pm. Interment will follow at the Providence Baptist Cemetery.
