Emily Johnson Thomas

Sumter, SC …… Emily Johnson Thomas, age 88, beloved wife of 64 years to the late Frank P. Thomas, Sr. went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Johnny T. Johnson and Carrie Green Johnson. Emily was a founding member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was an extremely strong Christian lady who was filled with the Holy Spirit. Having a strong desire to serve Jesus Christ, she was very active in her Church. She played the piano, sang in the choir, and taught Sunday School and Circle.  She had a very loving and giving heart and was always willing to support many charities. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are: two sons, Frank P. Thomas, Jr. and his wife Kimberly of Greenville and John Lee Thomas and his wife Renée of Camden; one son-in-law, Joe Dukes of Sumter; four grandchildren, Warren Dukes and his wife April, Lauren Dukes Watson and her husband Michael, Bradley Thomas and  Leigh Thomas and one great grandchild, Ellena Dukes.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Thomas Dukes; one granddaughter-in-law, Tiffany Thomas; one brother, Tom Johnson and one sister, Mary Hobbs.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 2:00pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Stuart Mizelle officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2pm at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Monday November 18, 2019.
