Sumter, SC.... Evelyn Ann Klaschus Buck, age 92, beloved wife to the late Joseph Anthony Buck, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at McLeod Health Clarendon Hospital.
Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Frank Klaschus and Anna White Klaschus. To all who knew her, Evelyn was a true lady- gracious, poised, patient and loving. She was also an incredible force, a clever mind, and a talented artist.
As family matriarch, she was a rock of support and love. As a woman born before her time, she nurtured deep intellect and awareness of the world. Her passions were also recognized talents.
Evelyn’s kitchen was never empty. Her recipes and cooking inspired generations of home cooks. And her gift for quilting was recognized throughout the quilting community, most recently as a historian, speaker, teacher, and friend of many quilting clubs. Her quilts have won awards at countless shows, each demonstrating her attention to detail and aptitude for artful storytelling. Favorite designs included Storm at Sea, Bear Paws, Card Trick, and Drunkard’s Path, among others. Each member of Evelyn’s family received a quilt she made- a gift not only of fabric and thread but a piece of her life to be cherished.
Her laughter and joy for life will never be forgotten by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by three sons, Joseph Paul Buck of VA, Lawrence “Larry” Buck and wife Tracee of Carlsbad, CA, and Daniel Buck and wife Melissa of Sumter, SC; a daughter, Patrice Reninger and husband Larry of Roselle, IL; nine grandchildren: Kirk Kocan, Jesse Buck, Shaina (Buck) Yowell, Joseph Daniel Buck, Michael Buck, Stephanie (Reninger) Newkirk, Chrissy Reninger, Katie Reninger, Grant Buck, and Morgan Buck, and three great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Klaschus.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 2:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Howard Officiating.
