Sumter, SC …… Gloria Jean Ward Miller, age 71, wife of the late David Meredith Miller, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at her residence.
Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Henry T. Ward and Louise Avin Ward. A woman of Christian faith, Gloria was a member of Westside Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, quilting and watching Clemson football. Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandson. She will be remembered as a very loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving to cherish her memory are two sons, Cecil L. Springs, Jr. and his wife Cathy, and David H. Springs and his wife Melissa, both of Sumter; a brother Henry Mac Ward of Sumter; two sisters, Mary Geddings, and Beverly Gagne, both of Sumter; four grandchildren, Sandra Gray McGowan, Jessica Young, Jennifer Young, and Hunter Arrants, and one great grandson, Mason Cole Young.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Danny Ward, and Ed Ward and a sister, Nettie Weatherford.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, David Springs.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 3:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will follow the service in the Henry T. Ward Family Cemetery.
