Sumter, SC …… Harry Charles Young, age 84, beloved husband of sixty-two years to Lorana Holmes Young, died on Saturday, December 14th, 2024, at Veterans Village in Florence, SC.
Mr. Young was born in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of the late Miles Young & Anna Windish Young. He was a US Air Force veteran, retiring after 22 years of service as TSGT and later retiring from Jim’s Exxon in Sumter. Harry was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan! He earned an associate’s degree from Sumter Area Technical College in Business and Criminal Justice.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: Two daughters, Lorana Ann Lamb and her husband Randy of Elgin, SC, and Christina Ann Ramirez and her husband Miguel of N. Augusta, SC; One sister, Ruth Young of Pittsburgh, PA; and Six grandchildren, Matthew Lamb, Megan Wood and her husband Kevin, Carolyna Ramirez, Alexis Ramirez, Olivia Ramirez and Miguel Ramirez.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Miles Young, Jr., Frank Young, and Michael Young, and two sisters, Mary Arenth and Bertha Nieser.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at 9:00 am in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow with full military honors in the Ft. Jackson National Cemetery at 11:00 am.
