Sumter, SC………………… Herbert Thomas Buckner, age 85, beloved husband of 66 years to Mary Ann Allgood Buckner, died on Friday, November 14th, 2025, at his home.
Herbert was born in Sumter, SC, a son of the late Thomas Buckner and Grace Truman Ray Buckner. He was a meat cutter in Sumter for over 40 years. He loved Clemson, visiting Texas, Nascar, working in his yard, helping his neighbors, shag dancing, and beach music. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: Three daughters, Cindy Fortier of Sumter, SC, Mary York and her husband Jim of Lexington, SC, and Lisa Butler and her husband Bert of Lexington, SC; One sister, Mary Grace Carter of Sumter, SC; Nine grandchildren, Jason Davis, Megan Fortier, Jessica Buvinghausen, Kelli Broadus, Kaila Butler, Nathan Lyles, Joshua Fortier, Jimmy York and Jordan York; and Nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025, at 2:00pm at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm, Tuesday, November 18th, 2025, at Bullock Funeral Home.
