Sumter, SC…. Hiram Calvin Spittle, age 81, beloved husband of 61 years to Sara Jean Floyd Spittle, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at his residence.
Born in Richland County, SC, he was the son of the late Calvin Alexander Spittle and the late Eula Mack Langley. Hiram started a professional cleaning business in Sumter in 1973 and successfully operated it for over 40 years. He was a strong man of faith and, along with his wife, was a longtime member of Bethesda Church of God. Hiram was an avid Gamecocks fan whose passion for sports extended far beyond the stands. He spent many years coaching all sports through both the YMCA and the Sumter Parks and Recreation Department. He loved fishing and enjoyed playing golf, but his true joy in life came from spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a very loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
In addition to his wife, left behind to cherish his memory are his son, Scott Spittle and wife, Shi of Sumter, his daughters, Cindy S. Timmons and husband, Robby of Pinewood, and Kelly N. Townley of Sumter, a brother, Luke Langley, and two sisters, Felecia Langley and Stacey Langley Hudson, his aunt Betty Monts, three grandchildren, Brandon Scott Spittle and wife Tolley, Evan Bryce Spittle and Kassidy Townley, and one great-grandchild, Olivia Lyn Townley.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Shealy and Sharon Timmerman.
Services will be private.
