Sumter, SC …….. James “Jim” Joseph Caffery, Sr., age 83, beloved husband of 61 years to Eunice Ezrow Caffery, passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Prisma Health Richland.
Born in Rochester, NY, he was the son of the late Roy W. Caffery and Norine B. Garin Caffery. After graduating high school, Jim served in the United States Army for 8 ½ years. He then went to work for the Eastman Kodak Company where he retired after 28 ½ years of service. During his career in the Army, Jim and Eunice came to visit Sumter and decided at that time that Sumter would be the place where they hoped to retire. They eventually would fulfill their dream of moving to Sumter, where they enjoyed their shared passion for playing golf. They were long time members of St. Jude Catholic Church. Jim will be remembered as a very loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by; a son, James “Jim” Joseph Caffery, Jr. and his wife Evelyn of Morrisville, NC; a daughter, Denise Trow of Plattsburg, NY and four grandchildren, Ruth Buxbaum and her husband Joshua, Sarah Caffery and Daniel Caffery.
In addition to his parents, He is preceded in death by; a grandson, Kenneth Trow; two brothers, Roy Caffery and Robert Caffery and three sisters; Nancy Burroto, Helen Brown and Cathleen Caffery.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.
