Janet Elaine (Smotts) Ross

Sumter, SC ……… Janet Elaine Smotts Ross, age 63, beloved wife of 15 years to Benny Ross, entered into the gates of Heaven to her eternal home on Thursday, September 23, 2021.

She was born in Altus, Ok to Patricia Effie Wilson Boyd and the late Charles Smotts. Mrs. Ross retired from Bank of America after 30 years of service where she worked and provided personal banking care at the highest level to her clients. She was a member of Sumter Baptist Temple Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. Her favorite hobby was shopping, sewing, crocheting, decorating, arranging flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Ross was active in her community where she was always lending a helping hand.  She loved her husband, momma, girls, and grandchildren.  

Surviving in addition to her husband, Benny Ross are: daughters, Trish Corbin her husband Mike of Alabama, Lisa Burchett her husband David of Sumter, April Green of Columbia; son Jordan Ross his wife Brett of Columbia; eight grandchildren, Angelina, Gabriella, Lauren, Tyler, Camden, Blakeleigh, Breanna, and Carolina; one brother, Stephen Smotts his wife Cathy of Sumter; one sister, Sharon Varner her husband Tim of GA.

In addition to her father Chuck Boyd, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Smotts, and late husband Alvin D. Wallace

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, from 4:00 -6:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 26, 2021, at 2:00pm at the Sumter Baptist Temple Church with the Rev. Ron Morris and Reve. Mike Westmoreland officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be; Stephen Smotts, David Boyd, Brandon Davis, Pat Davis, Henry Allen Morris and Jordan Ross.

Honorary pallbearers will be; Mike Wallace, Gerald Conyers, Michael Matlock, David Burchett, Michael Corbin, Tim Varner, Allen Morris, and Ted Wilson.
