Sumter, SC…. Janie Mae Porter Parker, age 87, beloved wife of the late James William Parker, passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
Janie was born in South Carolina, the daughter of the late Eulice Porter and Susan Coker Porter. Janie was regarded as a strong woman and a survivor who pushed through tough times. Her resilient nature and her kind heart helped her endure.
She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Charlotte Vohs, and her husband, Danny; one son, Kenneth Gregory Parker; one brother, Robert (Pete) Parker; two sisters, Kathlynn Feagin and Betty Jo Wilkes; four grandchildren, Trish Marie Davis, Derrick Parker, Jamie Parker, and January Parker; one great-grandchild, Jordan Ross Cauthen, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Laurette Green; two sons, James Allen Parker and Paul Lenair Parker; two sisters, Vinnie Lee Matthew and Mary Frances Bryant; and five brothers, George Porter, Jimmy Porter, Lawrence Porter, Larry Porter, and Mack Porter.
