Sumter, SC…. Jared Christopher Lynch, Sr, age 50, devoted husband of six years to Carrie O’Neal Lynch, died peacefully on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jared was born May 24, 1974, in Sumter, SC. He attended the Schools of Sumter County, graduating from Sumter High School. He then later enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he honorably served seven years.
He had deployments in OEF as well as being stationed in North Carolina, Kentucky and Texas.
Jared had a rewarding career in the 101st Airborne with the 26th Infantry Regiment Blue Spader. He was a highly decorated war hero including the Purple Heart.
Jared is survived by his wife, Carrie Lynch, two sons, Jared Christopher Lynch, Jr, of Irmo, SC, and Brice Douglas O’Neal Berry of Sumter, SC; two daughters, Alisha Lillian Timmons of Irmo, SC, and Corrie Brooke Mason (William Oxendine) of Wagram, NC. He had 5 grandchildren, Jax Mason, Leland Mason, Rylee Oxendine, Lynkin Mason, and Aliya Grigg.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Herbert Lynch and mother, Jameson Ann Demby.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
The inurnment will follow the visitation on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military honors.
