Jerry Preston Tyler

Santee, SC…Jerry Preston Tyler, age 78, beloved husband of 50 years to Sharon Lee Hucks Tyler, died on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at MUSC Health in Orangeburg.

Born in Robeson County, NC, he was the son of the late Foy Gaston Tyler and Mary Edwards Tyler.  Jerry was the owner/operator of Jerry’s Sandwich Shop in Whiteville, NC for over 48 years.  He was a very personable man who never met a stranger and loved interacting with his customers.  He had a big heart and was very generous and giving in all aspects of his life.  His favorite hobby was fishing and could catch fish on any lake that he was on.  He will be remembered as the best and most loving husband to his wife and daughter.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife, Sharon, is his daughter Charlotte Hucks Tyler Dores and her husband Jason of Santee.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his three brothers.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Whiteville, NC.
