John Burke Obituary

Wedgefield, SC…John Lewis Burke, age 74, beloved husband of 48 years to the late Darlene Alice Rowe Burke, died on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Born on May 2, 1945 in Auburn, NY, he was the son of the late Leon Willis Burke and Avis Irene Dunham Burke. He attended Weedsport schools and graduated from Moravia Central High School, NY in 1963. Mr. Burke served his country in the US Air Force as an aircraft mechanic and technician and was a Decorated Vietnam Veteran. He retired as a Tech Sergeant after 20 years of dedicated service. He went on to work for Sherwin Williams and later became the owner of Burke’s Sharpening.

Surviving are: one daughter, Conni Noel Burke of Indian Trail, NC; one son, Michael John Burke of Wedgefield, SC; three grandchildren, Chaise Leon Turbeville, Michaela Noel Burke, and Connor James Mulligan; one great grandchild, Kyleigh Turbeville; one brother, William G. Burke and his wife Jean of Watertown, NY; and three sisters, Joanne Konecny and her husband Roger of West Palm Beach, FL, Kathy Franklin and her husband Phil of Locke, NY, and Sandy Radcliffe of Genoa, NY.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Darlene Alice Burke in 2015.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Wedgefield Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Goff officiating, for family members only.
