Sumter, SC…………. John Paul Cook, age 94, beloved husband of the late Joan Randell Harverson Cook, died on Friday, July 10th, 2026, at his home.
Mr. Cook was born in Morristown, TN, a son of the late Walton G. Cook and Carrie Mae Waldrop Cook. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force for 26 years, serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. John was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed. He was a member of Hickory Road Baptist Church for 58 years and served as a deacon.
Survivors are: One son, Jerry Allen Cook and his wife Lorin of Woodstock, GA; Three daughters, Janis Cook Gilbert and her husband Timothy of Paradise, TX, Joyce Cook Barwick of Sumter, SC, and Julia Cook Anderson of Lugoff, SC; Six grandchildren, Alisa Boone and her husband Max, Carol Galuppi and her husband Andrew, Elizabeth Barwick, Victoria Vine and her husband Chris, Ashley Fletcher and Aaron Gilbert and his wife Madison; and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Ed Cook, a sister-in-law Sharon Cook, and a sister, Margie Cook.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17th, 2026, at 12:00pm at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with full military honors will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 11:00am – 12:00pm, Friday, July 17th, 2026, at Bullock Funeral Home.
