Dalzell, S.C …. Judith K. "Miss Judy" Lessard, age 82, beloved wife of the late Henry Thomas Lessard, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Covenant Place of Sumter.
Born in Ashland Nebraska, she was the daughter of the late Egmund Penke and Ruth Sturzenegger Penke. Judy was a beloved member of the St. James Lutheran Church community, where she actively participated and touched the lives of many. She was a dedicated employee at McDonald’s in Sumter for over 43 years. She was known for her warm and welcoming nature, never meeting a stranger and turning friends into family. Her love for people and her family was evident to all who knew her. Judy had a gift for finding good in everyone and was a true earth angel to those around her.
She is survived by her son, Michael Scott Lessard, and his wife, Jamie, of Dalzell; special friends Paula Hutchinson and her family, Eric, Carl, and Chae; two daughters-in-law, Penny and Stephanie; and five grandchildren, Dana Lessard, Jacob Lessard, Chad Lessard, Chase Lessard, and Adam Ledbetter. Judy also leaves behind great-grandchildren, and a special nephew and his wife, David and Donna
Shaw and extended family.
In addition to her husband and parents, Judy was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey T. Lessard and Timothy W. Lessard; and one sister, Betty Rose Shaw.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 28, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 12:00 pm at St. James Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Landrum officiating. The interment will follow the service in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeshua Bradshaw, Carl Hutchinson, Eric Hutchinson, Roy Jennings, Barry Ray, and Justin Stapler.
In lieu of purchasing a memorial tree, the family requests that donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 2901 Colonial Drive, Columbia, South Carolina 29203.
To celebrate Miss Judy’s vibrant personality, her family invites all who attend her service to wear bright colors. Miss Judy’s legacy of love, kindness, and positivity will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed.
