Julia Balsiger Obituary

Julia Ann Balsiger, age 73, beloved wife of the late Ronald Joseph Balsiger, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, at her home.

Julia was born in Sheffield, Alabama, a daughter of the late Billy Ray Cozart and the late Peggy Ann King. Julia was a member of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church. She found joy in traveling, gardening, reading, and cheering on Alabama football. A gifted and enthusiastic cook, she delighted her family and friends with meals that were always prepared with love. Her positivity was constant, and she will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. Julia had a deep love for animals, frequently supporting the SPCA and welcoming stray pets into her home.

Above all, she was a devoted mother who cherished her family. She leaves behind the legacy of a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Julia will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Michael Andrew Balsiger, and his wife Janet, of Greenwood, SC; her daughters, Cynthia Rebecca Wiliford of Minneapolis, MN, Katharine Neeley Crist and her husband Joseph of Alaska, and Lyndsay Bronwyn Gavin and her husband David Jeffery of Sumter; her sisters, Karmel Randall and Katherine Wells, and her grandchildren, Eric Way, Mandy Way, Bronte Howard, Hayden Crist, Connor Crist, Tommy Crist, Jorja Crist, Julia Preston, Ethan Gavin,  and Asher Gavin.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Ray Cozart, her granddaughter, Aaliyah Eastmon, and her grandson, Robert Oakes.
