Sumter, SC…. Karen Elaine McCoy Hesselbart, age 69, beloved wife of 37 years to Glenn Hesselbart, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at her home.
Karen was born in Sewickley Heights, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Kenneth McCoy and the late Katherine Virginia Seawright McCoy. Karen was a woman of steadfast faith whose life reflected devotion and love. Together with her husband, she was a cherished member of the Church of the Holy Comforter. Her commitment extended beyond the congregation, as she served faithfully with Kairos Prison Ministries and participated actively in the Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) of Sumter. Karen will be remembered as a devoted wife, a caring aunt, and a loyal friend. Her presence brought joy and comfort to many, and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.
In addition to her husband, left behind to cherish her memory are her brothers, Dean McCoy and his wife Maura of Winston-Salem, NC, and Gary McCoy and his wife Candy of Winston-Salem, NC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Edward McCoy.
A celebration of life will be held at Church of the Holy Comforter on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
