Bishopville, SC……………… Kathleen Virginia Jones, age 86, widow of the late Captain Gene Jones, died on Friday, February 9th, 2024, at her home.
Mrs. Jones was born in Knoxville, TN, a daughter of the late John David Ballard and Julia Louise Smith Ballard. “Mamaw” as she was affectionately referred to by all who knew her, was the most loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mamaw’s smile lit up every room and to know her was to love her. She had a green thumb and enjoyed watching her Tennessee Volunteer’s football. She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren and always provided support and love for her family.
Survivors are: three daughters, Debby Laney and her husband Van of Bishopville, SC, Kimberly Kay Miller and her husband Bill of Ocala, FL, and Kelly Hemby of Ocala, FL; two brothers, Albert Eugene Ballard and Robert Latham Ballard and his wife Jackie; three grandchildren, Tasha Mann and her husband Chris, Brandi Clemons and her husband Freddy and Kristi Keller and her husband Chase; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son in law, Phillip Hemby, and a sister-in-law Berniece Ballard.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 16th, 2024, at 11:00am, at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Atkinson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm, Thursday, February 15th, 2024, at Bullock Funeral Home.
