Larry Thomas Newell

Sumter, SC …… Larry Thomas Newell, age 80, beloved husband of 60 years to Edna Frances Pilson Newell, died on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Born in Pinehurst, NC, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mae Newell.

Mr. Newell was a mechanic and retired from Dick Dyer Toyota. He was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Usher and Sunday School Teacher. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

In addition to his wife Edna, he is survived by, three children, Tony Newell and his wife Sandy, Terry Newell and his wife Cathy and Patty Hinson and her husband Lonnie all of Sumter; one sister, Jean Deluca of Greensboro, NC; seven grandchildren, Cristin Coleman, Amanda McInnis, Emily Broach, Jessica Galloway, Will Hinson, Kandler Johnson and Lindsey Frederick; seven great grandchildren, Caroline Coleman, Taylor Coleman, Gabriel Regan, Harper Galloway, Hinson Galloway, Jonas Johnson and Dawson Johnson.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 2:00pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 4-6pm at Bullock Funeral Home and other times at the home.
