Obituary for Larry Edward Parker, Sr.
July 13, 1944 – January 25, 2025

Larry Edward Parker, Sr., a visionary businessman, leader, and philanthropist, passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 80.

Larry was born on July 13, 1944, in Tennessee and grew up in Sumter, South Carolina. He graduated from Edmunds High School before earning his degree from the University of South Carolina. Larry proudly served as a member of the National Guard for several years and went on to have a distinguished career spanning over five decades in the manufactured housing industry.

During his career, Larry owned and operated over 30 manufactured housing retail locations across South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina. He held leadership roles in the industry, including serving as Chairman of the Manufactured Housing Institute of South Carolina (MHISC) in the late 1980s, president of the Pee Dee Chapter, and various other positions on the state board of directors. In recognition of his contributions, Larry was inducted into the South Carolina Manufactured Housing Hall of Fame.

Larry also owned and managed a manufactured home rental community in Florence, SC. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was deeply committed to dedicating significant time and energy to the Parker Miracle House Foundation. This foundation provided support to cancer patients at the Medical University of South Carolina, a cause close to his heart.

Larry is survived by his dedicated wife of 25 years, Linda Parker; his children: Shay Geraghty (John), Larry Parker, Jr., Alicia Mize (Luke), Maureen Waldrop Elam (Justin), and Ashleigh Bryant (Scott); his brothers: Mike Parker and Jeff Sanford; and his eight cherished grandchildren.

Larry left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be remembered for his visionary leadership, generous spirit, his contagious laugh, outgoing personality, and the lasting impact he made on the manufactured housing industry.
