Larry F. Perry, age 77, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.
Born in Warren, Ohio, Larry was the beloved son of the late Davis Perry and Lucille Stein Perry. After graduating Matthews High School, Larry bravely joined the Army, serving as a medic in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart among numerous other honors for his distinguished service. Following his military career, he worked as a machinist at Peerless Electric in Warren, Ohio, until his retirement. Larry was a Life Member of the American Legion and a previous Post Commander of Orwell Ohio Post 719 and Kinsman Ohio Post 506, organizations where he found camaraderie and purpose. He had a profound love for the outdoors, finding joy in mowing his lawn and tending to his garden. A loyal Atlanta Braves fan, Larry never missed a game, whether on TV or radio. His sense of humor and love for reminiscing brought much joy to all who knew him, especially during moments shared with his family. Above all, Larry’s greatest joy was his family, particularly his grandchildren. His warmth, humor, and love will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who knew him.
Larry is survived by his cherished children: his son, Michael Perry (Amy) of Sumter, SC; and his daughter, Jennifer Ziegler (Edward) of Mentor, OH; two brothers, Lyell Perry (Sara) of Gustavus, OH, and Gary Perry (Cindy) of Niles, OH; one sister Denise Granelly (David) of Vienna, OH; one brother-in-law, Roger Cozadd; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Perry, and Joyce McCourt; six grandchildren: Christian Snyder, Katelyn Potsko, Hunter Perry, Chloe Perry, Shaina Chunyo (Kyle) and Steven Ziegler; two great-grandchildren Daenerys and Kylah, and his former wife, Susan Perry of Sumter, SC.
In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his brothers Ronnie Perry and Carl Perry, and his sisters Edith Perry, Betty Colla, Katie Hartwell, Loretta Palette, and Cheryl Cozadd.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Gustavus, Ohio.
