Linzie Dawn Lewis

Sumter, SC…. Linzie Dawn Lewis, age 36, beloved wife of over 17 years to Richard Murrell Lewis, III, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at MUSC Kershaw Health Medical Center.

Born in Frimley, England, she is the daughter of Phillip Burson and Tracy Wood Burson. She was an incredibly warm and loving person. She accepted others with grace and patience, always allowing the other person their own faults and foibles while loving on them with food and hospitality, often showing this unconditional love by feeding them.

Linzie was famous in her circle for her cooking.  She brought food from England into the lives of her loved ones with oft-requested Scotch Eggs, Trifle, Banoffee Pie, Sausage rolls, and the always-requested sausage-stuffed bacon-wrapped turkey, as well as other culinary delights such as Ton Katsudon and chicken curry.

Linzie was very proud of Rick and followed him from England to South Dakota, to Japan, back to South Dakota and lastly, to South Carolina.  She was very excited to start the next chapter of their life as they planned to transition Rick to civilian life in June 2026.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by daughters, Jean-Marie & Arrietta, parents Tracy & Phillip William Burson, brother Joshua Meldrum, father-in-law Richard Lewis Jr., mother & father-in-law Marianne and Harvey Capellen, siblings-in-law, Houston (Heather) Capellen, Brandon Lewis and Trevor (Brandi) Lewis and niece Paizlee as well as a large assortment of adopted friends from all over the world.

Linzie is preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert “Bob” and Jean-Maurine Wood, her mother-in-law, Jennifer Lewis, and her grandfather-in-law, Victor Booth, Jr.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at Bullock Funeral Home, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 10:00-11:00 am.

A funeral service will be held at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 11:00 am.
