Margaret (Green) Lee

Sumter, SC ...........Margaret Green Lee, age 101, beloved wife of the late Herbert Pressley Lee, Jr., passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at The Grove in Sumter, SC.

Born in Turbeville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Robert Sidney Green and Ressie Coker Green.  Margaret earned her bachelor’s degree and was a proud Alumna of Winthrop University.  She began her career as a social worker for the SC Department of Social Services and had a very long and fruitful career until her retirement.  A strong woman of faith, Margaret was a faithful member of Manning United Methodist Church, where she was very involved with her Sunday school class.  In her free time, Margaret loved her family, cooking, gardening and sewing.  She was an excellent cook and was especially known for her cookies.  Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will be remembered for her kind spirit and devotion to her family.

Surviving to cherish her memory are two sons, Herbert P. “Joe” Lee, III and wife Jessie, and Sidney Michael “Mike” Lee and wife Margie, both of Sumter, SC; one sister, Eleanor Green Smith of Turbeville; four grandchildren, Margaret Anne Lee-Horton and husband Brock, Caroline Lee Barnette and husband Will, Herbert Russell Lee, and Margaret Lee Holder and husband Kyle, and ten great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Harold Wayne Lee, a brother, Ryan Sidney Green and wife Becky; three sisters, Mae Green Turbeville and husband J.V., Doris Green Powell and husband J.W., and Miriam Green McFaddin and husband Aubrey.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.  The interment will immediately follow the service in the Manning Cemetery.
