Margaret Whitfield Obituary

Sumter, SC…Margaret Hanley Whitfield, age 85, beloved wife of 66 years to Floyd Whitfield, died of natural causes on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at her residence.

 Born in the Bronx, NY, she was a daughter of the late John Hanley and Agnes Malcolm Hanley.  Margaret and Floyd moved to Sumter in 1971 and opened the Honda Motorcycle Shop.  She worked for many years in the shop as it’s co-owner and secretary.  She attended Sumter’s First Church of God and was a strong Christian woman with unshakeable faith.  Margaret was a very loving and compassionate woman and demonstrated that compassion by visiting the nursing homes in Sumter.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

 Surviving in addition to her husband Floyd is; a son, Ronnie Whitfield and his wife Carol of Sumter; two daughters, Debbie Whitfield Stewart and her husband Reynolds of Barnwell and Catherine Whitfield Corbett and her husband Warren of Aiken; nine grandchildren, Aaron Whitfield, Stacie Clark, Mandy Geddings, Ryan Barnhill, Whitney Barnhill, Alicia Jones, Todd Corbett, Curtis Corbett and Kayla Corbett and ten great grandchildren.
