Mark Steven (Smith) Smith

Sumter, SC….Mark Steven Smith, age 63, beloved husband of 7 years to Donna B. Smith, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

Mark was born in Bladen County, NC, on December 17, 1962, to the late Marvin T. Smith and the late Lucy Singletary Smith. He graduated from Pembroke State University in 1984 with a degree in accounting before joining the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for 20 years. After retiring, he devoted himself to caring for his wife, Linda, until her passing. He later returned to the Air Force community as a contractor. Mark’s military service reflected his unwavering dedication and work ethic. His laughter, kindness, and love will continue to live on through his wife, Donna, his children, grandchildren, and all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

In addition to his loving wife Donna B. Smith, left behind to cherish his memory are his beautiful daughters, Samantha Jo Smith and her significant other Mike of SC, Samantha Strickland and her husband Mario of NC, and Erica Charles and her husband Jamey of SC; his sons, Chad Barnes and his wife Chandler of NC, and Andy Geddings and his wife Lauren of SC; his brother, Russ Smith and his wife Jonia of NC; his grandchildren, Nash Geddings, Scarlett Strickland, Vincent Strickland, Xavier Strickland, AJ Strickland, Violett Strickland, Marshawn Strickland, Finn Oliver Barnes, Payton Charles, Bryce Charles, Cory Geddings, Cole Geddings and Waylon Geddings.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Danny William Smith, and his grandson, Stanley Marshall Geddings, II.

A memorial service will be held at a later date under the cedar trees at his home.
