Lexington, SC…Mary Helen Alexander, age 83, beloved wife of the late Louis R. Alexander, died on Monday, December 25, 2023, at her residence.
Born in Lexington, SC, she was the daughter of the late David Anderson, Sr., and Mary Magdeline Lee Anderson. Mary was the owner and operator of Fantastic Sams Hair Salon, which would later be named Alexanders in Sumter, SC. A strong woman of faith she was a member of Wise Drive Church of the Nazarene in Sumter, and Cayce Church of the Nazarene during her time in Lexington. She loved to bake and work in her garden and flower beds. Mary will be remembered the most for being a very loving mother, grandmother, and friend.
Mary is survived by five granddaughters, Lenia Dooley Christensen of Charleston, Celina Dooley West and her husband Keith of Lugoff, and Brittney Lynn Trull of Lexington, Sarah Mitchell and her husband Scott, Maryjo Platt and her husband Martin, Jr., a stepson, Mark B. Alexander and his wife Susan Aiken Vezzetti of Abingdon, MD, and twelve great grandchildren, Gabrielle Christensen, Abigail Christensen, William West, Alexandrea West, Andrew West, Riley Compton, Carlie Compton, Nathan Compton, Jack Mitchell, Nolan Mitchell, Martin Platt, III, and Alexander Platt.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Delaine Dooley and a brother, David Anderson Jr.
A funeral service will held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Geddings Officiating. The interment will follow the funeral service in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, one hour prior to the service, on Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 12:00-1:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
