Mary Manville Obituary

Columbia, SC ……. Mary Elizabeth Isabell Manville, affectionately known as "MEIM" to her friends and family, passed away on April 4th, 2023, at the young age of 19. She was born on February 4th, 2004, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Mary Elizabeth lived a life full of passion, kindness, and dedication. She was a shining example of what it means to be caring and lovable. She was always there for her friends and family, offering a helping hand or a listening ear whenever they needed it. Throughout her life, Mary Elizabeth excelled in her studies and pursued her passion for dance. She was a gifted and disciplined classical ballet dancer, attending prestigious ballet schools such as the San Francisco Ballet School, the Paris Opera Ballet School in France, Ellison Ballet in New York City, and Houston Ballet. But her love for dance was just one facet of her life. Mary Elizabeth was so much more than just a talented dancer.  She graduated with honors from Blythewood High School in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2022, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Latin Honor Society. She was accepted into the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Opera and Ballet Theater in Bloomington, where she continued to thrive as a student, achieving a 4.0 and honored as Founders Scholar in her first semester.

Mary Elizabeth's caring nature was evident to everyone who knew her. She always went out of her way to make others feel loved and valued. Her smile could light up a room, and her kind heart touched the lives of everyone she met. Mary Elizabeth was a beautiful ray of light in the world, and her legacy as a selfless and diligent individual will live on in the hearts and memories of those who loved her.  Mary Elizabeth Isabell Manville will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those who knew her. Mary Elizabeth's example of living life with a genuine, caring spirit and unwavering perseverance will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, selflessness, and resilience that will remain in the hearts and memories of all who were touched by her presence.

Mary Elizabeth is survived by her parents, Paul and Mary Catherine Manville of Columbia, SC, her sister Annabelle Manville, grandmother Vicki Warner of Columbia, SC, grandparents, Jim and Donnis Cox of Anderson, SC, and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins with whom she was very close.

She was predeceased by paternal grandfathers Pete Manville of Houston, TX and Jan Warner of Sumter, SC and maternal grandmother Jane Palmer Cox of Fort Mill, SC. 

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at 6:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church in Blythewood, SC.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 5:00 – 6:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 864, Blythewood, SC 29016.
