Mary Anne (Walsh) Marshall

Mary Anne (Walsh) Marshall, 70, passed peacefully having lived a happy, joyful and loving life on April 11, 2025 at her home. She found joy in every step she made forward. The daughter of the late John Raymond Walsh and Katherine Anne Conron. She grew up in Massachusetts, Florida and New Hampshire as her parents traveled north and south. She married the love of her life, Curt Marshall after meeting in college in Maine, and following a whirlwind romance they married and their love for each other has lasted over 51 years. She was the happy mom of two children, Anne (wife Patricia) and Nathaniel (husband Chad) plus two grandsons, Ethan and Nicholas, and the sister of Deborah Carney (husband Larry). She was tremendously proud of her children who are extremely successful in the fields of accounting and education.

Mary, as an Air Force wife traveled with her husband and eventually lived in West Berlin Germany for over four years. She was immersed in the city on both sides of the wall and was a tour guide for the Morale, Welfare and Recreation tours office at Templehof Central Airport, later becoming the tours director. Under her direction she increased their profitably over 600% by expanding the options for travel and trips available to her customers. She lived there before, during, and after the fall of the Berlin Wall, witnessing history first hand.

Mary found her true calling after moving to South Carolina and discovering the local farms. She wrote and advocated continually about their benefits and value to the local community and called for the support for them. Mary had a love and a passion for natural farm fresh foods. She created a blog website, Cooking with Mary and Friends, sharing recipes and writing about her farm trips. She also created a food column for the bi-monthly magazine, Camden Living, sharing her food passion as well as time tested recipes with thousands of readers.

After many years of canning fresh produce, making pickles and a variety of unique jams she finally took the plunge and opened The Mary Mart LLC, producing artisan, handcrafted jams and jellies, sourcing as much as possible from local farms.

Mary shared her joy and passions with so many lifelong friends, some stretching over 50 years. She always met a friend and never a foe. Her family was everything to her, she had so much joy and love in her children and grandsons. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her and their lives touched by her.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. She will lie in rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
