Across your area, an individual impersonating a funeral home employee is contacting families and demanding payment over the phone. Please know that we will never call you and ask for payment over the phone. Do not give the caller your information or money! Hang up and call the police. And if you're ever unsure about anything to do with your loved one, please call the funeral home and speak with your funeral director.

Melinda Jene Horne, age 45, passed away on September 9, 2025.
Melinda was born in Alvarado, Texas, a daughter of the late Roger Horne and Vickie Tucker Horne. Melinda embraced life with passion and joy. Whether it was the thrill of the racetrack, a game of pool, the world of fashion and art, or the art of decorating, she found delight in many things. Yet, her true passion was singing, a talent that once earned her a spot on American Idol. Above all, Melinda’s heart belonged to her children and grandchildren, and she took immense pride in her daughters. She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and her absence will be deeply felt by everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters; Taysia Horne, Dailyn Clemmons and Bryleigh Kelly, her brothers; Darby Tucker, Marty Horne, Matt Horne, and his wife Samantha, her sisters; Tracy Bentley and her husband, James, Dana Hill and her husband, Adam, and her grandchildren; Kenlie Carraway, Aspen Flowers, Shyleigh Horne, and Maveryck Pearson.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister Melisa Horne and her brother Mark Horne.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating. The burial will immediately follow the service in the Green Acres Assembly of God Cemetery.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 1:00-2:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.
