Michael J. Hargrave

Wedgefield, SC…Michael J. Hargrave, age 62, passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024.

Mike J. Hargrave, born October 21, 1961 in Dayton, Ohio, he is the son of the late Edna and Larry Staida. Mike worked in the commissary, for 32 years, between Bergstrom AFB in Austin, TX and at Shaw AFB in Sumter, SC.  He retired at the age of 50 just to enjoy life and fellowship with his church family.  Mike was a very involved member of Wedgefield Baptist Church. He never met a stranger and would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need.  Mostly, Mike wanted to be remembered as a Child of God!  He loved doing God’s work and made it his mission to get as many people as he could to take their next step to be close to God. His favorite saying was always God is Good!  We loved yard sales and had a small group of friends that would meet for breakfast at Hardees, on Saturdays, then head out to different yard sales around the community.

He is survived by, a brother, Joseph Maython Hargrave of Topeka, Kansas, and a sister, Emma Michelle Hargrave Trask of Cheney, Kansas.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Wedgefield Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 4:00 pm at Wedgefield Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Goff Officiating.
