Milton Holland Obituary

Sumter, SC……………..It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Milton Raymond Holland “Brother Ray”, age 74, on Saturday, July 4th, 2026, at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital.

Brother Ray, born on June 16, 1952, grew up just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, and went on to study music and Bible at Liberty University, where he had the opportunity to travel the world with the university choir. His life was deeply rooted in faith and service, spending many years ministering in churches including Langston Baptist, Grand Strand Baptist, Georgetown Baptist, Sumter Baptist Temple, Emmanuel Baptist, and Sumter Bible Church.

Through his roles as a youth pastor and minister of music, he touched countless lives and exemplified what it means to live a Christ-centered life. In 1996, he began teaching at Sumter Christian School, where he continued to impact generations of students through both his teaching and mentorship. Brother Ray was a humble and devoted man who sought from an early age to follow God’s plan. He was known for his powerful voice, which he used to bring glory to God, and for his deep passion for working with youth. He had a unique gift for connecting with others, especially young people, meeting them where they were with warmth, humor, and encouragement. He was a positive presence in every room, never seeking recognition but always willing to serve behind the scenes. His joyful spirit and lighthearted approach to life left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Above all, he was incredibly proud of his sons and grandchildren, often sharing stories about them with a bright smile. He passed on to them his strong work ethic, sense of humor, and enduring positivity. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Survivors are: Two sons, Jared Holland of Summerville, SC and Aaron “Tuna” Holland and his wife Amber of Myrtle Beach, SC; One brother, Rodger Holland and his wife Terri of Summerville, SC; One sister, Janice Holland of Atlanta, GA; and he was Ray-Pa to seven grandchildren, Piper, Morgan, Steel, Avery, Quinn, Makenna and Spencer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton D. & Kathleen Holland.
