Nancy Jean (Martin) Davis

Sumter, SC …. Nancy Jean Martin Davis, Age 84, beloved wife of the late Robert Lewis ”Bob” Davis, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Prisma Health Tuomey.

Nancy was born and raised in the southern coal fields of West Virginia and was the daughter of William R. “Red” Martin and Ruby Johnson Martin.  Nancy graduated from Sherman High School in Seth, West Virginia and received an Associate in Science degree from West Virginia University Institute of Technology.  Immediately following graduation form WVUIT, Nancy accepted employment in Washington, DC.  It was there, she and Bob met while he was stationed at Bolling AFB, and they were married in DC in October 1959.  After serving over 25 years of Federal service in several states and the Philippines, Nancy retired at Shaw AFB, SC.  After retirement, Nancy attended Master Gardener training at Clemson Extension in Sumter and volunteered several years both in the office and various gardens in Sumter.

Nancy is survived by; a son, William Scott Davis, and his wife Cheryl; two grandchildren, Justin and Crystal; three great grandchildren; one brother, R. David “Butch” Martin and his wife Debbie and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
