Sumter, SC….Norma Jean Hitchcock, age 94, beloved wife of 54 years to the late Charles Herbert Hitchcock, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at her residence.
Norma was born in Buffalo, New York, a daughter of the late Robert Fay Bennett and the late Dorothy Lydia Morrison Bennett. Norma faithfully attended church at High Hills of Santee. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and doing word searches in her spare time. Norma will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Norma is survived by her son, Elwyn (Skip) Hitchcock, and his wife, Karen; her daughter, Dorothy Hitchcock; her sisters, Anna Bennett Haggerty of Freedom, New York, and Lois Bennett Drake Lane of Gainesville, Florida; and her grandchild, Nicole Yvette Hitchcock Kirkpatrick.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Miles Bennett and Carleton Bennett.
