Pauline Smith Lane

Sumter, SC …. Pauline Smith Lane, 80, wife of Billy W. Lane, died Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at home.

 Born in Sumter, she grew up in the Dalzell community and was a graduate of Hillcrest High School.  She was a daughter of the late Florence J. Burkett and the late Richard S. Smith.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, William W. Lane, and two daughters, Terry L. Booth and her husband, Kevin, and Dana K. Lane, all of Sumter; seven grandchildren: Austin Booth, Brianna Dorr (Chris), Cody Papp, Sydney Papp, Will Lane, Lane Bennett, and Hayden Lane; and one great grandchild, Harper Lane Dorr.

In her youth, she attended Dalzell United Methodist Church, as did her mother and grandmother before her.  She was baptized and married in Dalzell United Methodist Church.  She was a lifelong lover of animals, birds, and especially her Bantam chickens.  This, along with her art, gardening, and her three cats kept her busy all the time.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 28, 2024, from 11:00-12:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 12:30 pm at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverand Joshua Colvin officiating.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
