Phyllis Jean Shelor

Sumter, SC…. Phyllis J. Shelor, age 92, passed away on July 16, 2024, at NHC HealthCare, Sumter.

Phyllis was a cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born in Hazy, West Virginia and grew up in the close-knit community of Winding Gulf, where she developed a love for bluegrass music, and would often play and sing with her sister on the local radio station. Phyllis was formerly a factory line worker for Beckley Manufacturing in the 1960’s. She later became a dedicated homemaker who took great pride in raising her daughter and cherished every moment with her.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Emmitte “Bill,” a daughter Dianne, Parents, Milton and Garnet (Tucker) Meadows, a sister, Mary Caudill, a brother, Benjamin Meadows and her special friend, Herbert McKinney.

She was survived by daughter, Lori Fleming (John), and two grandchildren Jenna Meadows and Ashleigh Meadows.

Phyllis J. Shelor’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
