Rebecca McMillan Turner

Sumter, SC… Rebecca McMillan Turner, age 74, beloved wife of 56 years to Lawrence Woodrow Turner, Sr., died peacefully at Prisma Health Tuomey on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. She spent her final days surrounded by her friends and family.

Born in Sumter, SC, she was the daughter of the late William Hubert McMillan and Rita Graham McMillan. Whether you knew her as Rebecca, Becky, Beck, Momma, or Nana, to know her was to love her. Rebecca loved her Lord Jesus Christ and was an avid churchgoer. During her life, she was first a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and later, a member of Alice Drive Baptist Church. In addition to being a mother to her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, dogs, and chickens, she was a mother to all that walked through her door. She truly embodied the love of Jesus Christ in her life. Rebecca’s hobbies included caring for her dogs, Maggie, Sassy, and Lucy, her chickens, playing cards with friends, shopping for the best deals, watching HGTV, trips to the beach, eating seafood, swimming in her pool, and cooking for anyone who was at her home. She also loved Coca-Cola and collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia. Rebecca worked for Becton Dickinson “BD” as a loyal employee for over 30 years.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Lawrence; two sons, Woody Turner and his wife Robin Turner, and T.J. Morris and his wife Dylan Justice, both of Sumter; a brother, William McMillan of Sumter; five grandchildren, Dale Turner and his wife Lynsey Barker, Caleb Turner, Joshua Turner, Jude Morris, and Isabella Turner; a special nephew, Billy McMillan, and a special niece, Whitney McMillan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Dale Turner.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the Bullock Funeral Home in Sumter, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Following visitation, a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sammy Geddings and Pastor Todd Fleming officiating. The interment will take place immediately following the memorial service in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
