Richard James Leali

Sumter, SC…….. Richard James Leali, age 75, beloved husband of the late Betty Campbell Leali, died on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at Prisma Health Richland.

Born in Portsmouth, NH, he was the son of the late Dominic James Leali and Irene Blais Leali. Richard served in the USAF for over 20 years and retired as a MSGT. After his retirement he worked with the US Postal Service for over 20 years. He loved corvettes, Clemson Tigers and the New England Patriots.  He enjoyed hanging out with his friends at Shuckers, VFW Post 3034 and the Elk Lodge. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are: one son, Dominic James Leali, II and his wife Carly of Raleigh, NC; three daughters, Shawna Erwin and her husband Gabriel of St. Augustine, FL; Lisa Scurry and her husband Steve of Manning and Betsy Elmore and her husband Johnnie of Sumter; one sister, Bernice Hathaway and her husband John of Saco, ME; eight grandchildren, Mya, Tyce, Myles, Matthew and his wife Gina, Heather and her husband Anthony, Robbie, Erin and Blake and his wife Samantha and six great grandchildren, Grayson, Dean, Rosie, Jon, Jasmine and Alex.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 3:00 pm in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2-3pm at Bullock Funeral Home on Saturday, November 16, 2019.
