Sumter, SC……………… Ricky Theodore Smith, age 70, beloved husband of 44 years to Demetria Esguerra Smith, died on Tuesday, October 17th, 2023 at his home.
Mr. Smith was born in Newton, NC, a son of the late Darray Smith and Juanita Bennett Smith. Ricky was a lead cook in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years and retired with an Honorable Discharge after serving his country for 20 years. Ricky was also a lead cook at McGrady National Guard for 15 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: One son, Christopher Smith (Chelsey Farmer) of Hopkins, SC; One daughter, Felicia Smith Starr (Jeffery Starr) of Saint Petersburg, FL; One brother, Steve Smith of Hickory, NC; Two sisters, Dottie Hunter of Durham, NC, and Sandra Covington of Newton, NC; and four grandchildren, Nilana Starr, Aneela Starr, Ephraim Wright, and Olive Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ray Smith.
The family will receive friends from 12-3pm, Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 at Bullock Funeral Home.
