Sumter, SC ..... Mrs. Rita Barbara Seth passed peacefully in her sleep at home on February 11, 2024.
Mrs. Seth was born on September 26, 1923, in Erie, PA to Charles and Caroline McCooey. In 1945 she married Richard Seth and subsequently travelled the world as an army wife and giving birth to 8 children. In 1968 the couple moved to the Sumter area where Mrs. Seth has lived ever since.
In addition to her role as mother and grandmother, Mrs. Seth was an avid gardener. She enjoyed golf and belonged to a bowling league into her 90’s. Mrs. Seth was an active member of St. Anne’s Church.
Mrs. Seth was preceded in death by a stillborn son John Patrick Seth in 1945, her husband Richard George Seth in 1976, a grandson Roland Huebner in 2002 and her 3 sisters Anna McCleary, Marion Baierski and Lucille Grygier and a brother Charles Henry McCooey. She is survived by her 7 children: Carolyn and Fritz Huebner, Donald Seth, J and Tonia Seth, Donna Seth, Mary Ellen and Ray Davenport, Deby and Mark Wright and Kathy and Bill Geddings. In addition, Mrs. Seth leaves 22 grandchildren and 66 great-grandchildren.
