Robert Billheimer Obituary

Sumter, SC... Robert Eugene Billheimer, age 82, husband of Carolyn James Billheimer, died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

Born in Miami County, Ohio, he was a son of the late Joseph Marlin Billheimer and Mary Elma Davis Billheimer. Bob was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Sumter. He was very proud of his 40 years of military service and served in the United States Air Force, South Carolina Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserves. He retired from Civil Service at Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina.

Bob was an avid golfer and a member of the Christian Golfers Association. He enjoyed music: playing guitars, singing in the church choir, performing solos and participating in the quartets and trios. He also served as a commander in the Royal Rangers programs for boys at his church, a Sunday School teacher and was a deacon. He was passionate about the restoration of a 1950 Ford Coupe until his illness from cancer.

Survivors include: his wife of 60 years; three daughters, Tami Shelley and her husband Russell of Simpsonville, SC; Kim West and her husband Cliff of Charleston, SC; Renee Hill and her husband David of Fletcher, NC; seven grandchildren: Matthew West, Megan West McWethy and her husband Casey, Laura Siefert and her husband Zack, Allyson Shelley, Hannah Shelley, Daniel Hill and his wife Jaika, and Joshua Hill; five great-grandchildren: Molly McDaniel, Colton Hill, Meric McWethy, Hayden Siefert, and Jenson Hill; his siblings: Jerry Billheimer and his wife Elaine of Medway, OH, Doug Billheimer and his wife Iris, Lois Case and her husband Harvey all of Troy, OH; Ruby Collier of New Carlisle, OH; Janet Burkhardt and her husband Charles of Springfield, OH; Barbara Justice and her husband Ed of Medway, OH; and Debby Ray and her husband Jim of Mebane, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 2, 2017 in the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Phil Simun and Reverend Jason Banar officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, two hours prior to the service, from 9:00-11:00 am at Bullock Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Assembly of God Church, 1151 Alice Drive, Sumter, SC 29150.
